We need to start thinking about our stand at Wandin as our first meeting in the new year is only a few days before the show. We will be looking for a variety of vehicles to be on the stand from mild to....well that depends on what's built and running but with Adventure Tour not too long after there should be some more modified vehicles that could be displayed. They don't all have to be Suzuki either, last year we had the Feroza. Variety is the key. If you think that your vehicle could be available let us know. It doesn't have to be on the stand Saturday night if you can't make it as you can still get it on early Sunday morning before the show opens. If you have something that maybe you don't want to drive there it may be possible to organise a trailer to get it there instead.
The Newbies day trip to follow has been a good idea but this time have been considering a different approach. The idea would be to make it two to three weeks after Wandin and to run it at Cobaw as a more social day with a BBQ lunch to allow the prospective members more of a chance to get to know us a bit scary I know. Say charge $10 as a temporary membership for liability reasons for those who don't take up the Wandin "special offer" of 1/2 price membership and to cover the cost of some sausages and drink. Give them a nice drive around Cobaw and a chance to play on a couple of interesting tracks or just watch some Club members have a play. We could charge extra for a ride in Piggles Gallagags seemed entertained
We would also like to rework the photo boards if possible so if you have some good shots from any trips you have been on from mild to wild including some scenic shots it would be great if you could get copies to us. Printed or on disc would be preferred.
If you have any suggestions for Wandin let us know.

Happy to help out as required - please, less than 40 Degrees would be good.
I know last year wasn't that representative, but on reflection I think we were a bit bland.
Perhaps we need some "gee wiz" to grab attention, with a few general use vehicles to balance things out.
The Feroza was a waste of space - even though there were a few nibbles, nothing eventuated and I can't see that changing
Its a really tough marketing environment, with so much high quality competition from all the other specialist clubs IMO its difficult to sell anything but a brand.
I think that in that environment visitors expect to see zooks on a zook club stand and stock looking is a bit "ho hum" when your trying to drag in the passers by. If its not a zook its needs to be really interesting in its own right.
I hope every active Daihatsu driver in Melbourne joins the club, two is a much nicer number than one

Re: Wandin 4WD Show 17th February 2008
one year..... ONE year..... we'll have to put a car on it's side on the stand, just to stir 'em up. "Baaa suzuki's are useless... they just roll over"
It's a bigger job than it sounds though, it would have to be drained of all fluids (possibly even brake fluid ) and trailered in as the risk of the car dropping brake fluid/gear oil/whatever would be a major hassle.
It'd make people look twice, and is a nice antidote to all the silly ramps/stacks of tyres etc people (and us) use to ramp cars up.
Of course by then, Piggles will be waaaaay to wide to roll over
Steve.

I have the box/frame thing, that is used for showing off articulation, if anybody wants to use it this year.
Been kicking around here for ages, and I need to start making space in my lounge room.

Claire and I should be able to help set up and stay over to help out on the Sunday.
Good excuse to bring out the Tadpole again.
And I still need to rid my lounge room of the steel frame box artic thingy.
