Only works of you have coverage. So 90% of the people that need this app can't use it

When Chris posted this on AZ I also made the comment that in the event of significant fires, the 3G network in the fire zone gets overloaded/destroyed and you won't have data either. This was the case during Black Saturday - phone coverage failed around the time of the fire - it's a smooth app and works well, but you'll need to be mindful of the limitations of 3G.

Steve.

I've found that having the phone connected to the houses Wi-Fi gives the best results.
but for some this will still be an issue with phone-lines being damages with falling trees and power in general.
we should be ok as we are totally self reliant. solar power and satellite internet helps.

For me its mainly to stop me going into fire zones.
Reminders of Total Fire Ban days is handy, too.

I doubt I could live in a fire prone region,
Ash Wednesday put the fear into me.

I loaded this and used it on the weekend. We had coverage from Mt Buller when we got to the various peaks and were able to track the small fire near Licola as we got closer. It was very useful. Thanks Chris.

Glad it was useful.

After going through Ash Wednesday, I am a very fire nervous type.
