Not that I can commit to AT08, not sure yet if I’m up to it.
From what i've read there is some worthy tracks in the big river woods point area.
The publican at woods point is very accommodating of group bookings with cabins and camping also available.
Pub rooms $40 with a hearty big breakfast cooked to your liking.
The area is wet most of the time and fuel can be organized with some notice.
Being close to Marysville the last day could finish in the yarra ranges.
If no one knows the area that well I would be up for some recon trips to ascertain its potential.

Re: Adventre tour '08 Planning - UPDATE! ROLL CALL!

Post by gwagensteve »

OK Adventuretourers - Its AWN!!!!

I still have build a pair of diffs, Noels trolley tug is still in pieces - we're ready!

Here's the plan:

This year, I'll be heading to the neerim south caravan park on the Friday night, that's friday the 7th March. I might be able to get the day off, but I'll also probably be going a stupid way (via Yarra Junction) so I won't be running a proper convoy run down.

I have tentatively booked accommodation for 5 cars on the friday Night. If you're chasing ore salubrious accommodation than a patch of grass, you can contact them on: Contact Name: David Leach
Phone: 03 5628 1248
Fax: 03 5628 1248
They're pretty booked, but might be OK for the friday.

Saturday's driving will be in the Neerim area, where I have been told there are numerous "challenges"

Saturday's evening accommodation will be at Doon Reserve Caravan park, Doon Road, Yarra Junction. 59671674 This sounded like a long way from Neerim South, but it's only 50km. I've booked for 5-6 cars and well be fine.

Sunday will see us either hitting a yet to be confirmed route in the gentle annie neck of the woods. If that doesn't pan out, we will be hitting the Yarra State forest - Cummings Spur (AKA Justice track) Ellis, Ely Creek etc.

If we reach "as yet unconfirmed" track on Sunday, that will take us pretty much all day. That will mean the Yarra State Forest will be on Monday.
Either way Sunday night will be at Doon reserve too.
If we do Yarra State Forest on sunday, Monday might hold the balance of what we didn't get done on Sunday, or we'll head for Narby on the Acheron Way, and do Fisher Creek and Joe's spur again, these were pretty cool last year.

Who's coming?

Any questions?

Steve.

Oh I forgot -

I don't know Neerim at all... so of anyone has trip notes or knows the good stuff, either come along or let us know what to hit.

Team,

Quick FYI for those of you who gave up camping when you got acquired an income:

Warburton Motel
4 Donna Buang Rd
Warburton
03 5966 2059

They still have 4 rooms available for Sat 8th and Sun 9th. Fel and I are staying there both nights.

I look forward to seeing how crusty and buckled you all look in the mornings.

Cheereo,
Greg

I was planning a day visit this year, due to impending surgery,
but my surgery date is now closer than I expected, so I can't take any health or financial risks.
And Claires not ready for a harder trip yet.
So we won't be there at all
But I look forward to the next one with better hearing :) :) :)
(I have been struggling with the decision to go or not, and all or not, and camp or not)
Probably miss Licola too, and possibly Anzac day.
Hopefuly there will be a good trip at the end of it all. :!:
Tent part of camper will be paid off by then, so it could be an ok thing.

Have fun, and don't show off too much to the TV cameras
