Horseyard Flat, 28th & 29th April

Post by steve125 »

Seeing as there is a gap in the calender, I thought I might run this trip again over a slightly modified course.

TRIP TITLE:
Camping at Horseyard Flat

TRIP DATE:
Saturday 28th April & Sunday 29th April

TRIP DESCRIPTION:
Meet at Stratford, travel north to Briagalong (last fuel) then onto the southern edge of the Avon Wilderness, crossing the Avon River several times, ending the day at Horseyard Flat on the Moroka River. Either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning we will visit the Pinnacles. On Sunday, drive to the top of Mt Wellington, will also try to visit Neilson Crag (aka the watchtower/sentinal) and then onto Licola via Moroka Rd and Tamborintha Rd. From Licola, return to Melbourne on the Princes Hwy.

TRIP RATING:
Easy

TRIP MEETING POINT:
small park in the centre of Stratford, between Hobson and Raymond st, 10.30am

Steve

Looks like I am in also. Had to negotiate release from a few home commitments but that looks done now. Hope to catch you at the meeting Wednesday night to learn more.

Chris, most of this trip is outside of the Alpine National Park. The tracks on Saturday are all state forest. Horseyard Flat is in the Park but there is another camp site a few Ks west that is state forest. Sunday is about half and half state forest and Nat Park.
