If anyone around Melbourne metro area is thinking of swapping out their standard transfer case gearing and doesn't mind someone looking over their shoulder then I would love to come along and see how the process goes from start to finish.
I have gears at home to swap in once giant rubber comes along but in the mean time if I was able to watch someone else doing their gearing then I would have a much easier time when it came to doing my own.
As I have never done anything this mechanically complicated before

Jon, I did my T/case last winter & have heaps of step by step photos. You are welcome to a copy. Its not hard if you take your time & do your research first. Label all bits in plastic bags etc. Also you will find a very good 'how to' desciption with great photos on the lowrangeoffroad.com web site for the 6.5:1 gears. I installed 4.9:1 gears into my sj70 with 30inch M/Ts & find them perfect plus I replaced every bearing also. You will need the right tools. I have a press you can use for bearing replacement.
I don't want to sound all booty-fab, but I have used tube and a mallet to re-assemble my case rather than a press. I do have a selection of gear pullers though to get the gears apart. Getting the gears apart without a press/gear puller would be very difficult I think.

I got mine apart and pack together in the driveway with some blocks of wood, random bits of steel and the back of a large axe (and a couple of very trusting mates to hold it all - thanks hicksy and jay!)
Having said that, GO TO RICHARDS HOUSE AND USE HIS PRESS!!!

Any advice from anyone on what I "NEED" to replace as far as bearings and seals ?
I've been quoted on the whole kit for $320 but that is a lot more than I wanted to spend considering I only got the t-case to accomodate wheels, now getting bearings to accomodate the t-case to accomodate the wheels lol.

Up to you, I'd do all the bearings while it's apart but I suspect many don't.
If you do order bearings from Low Range email them first to check what brand bearings you'll get, they mostly have japanese bearings but I did get no-name wheel bearings and seals from them and the seals where stuffed with a few trips and one bearing started rusting as a result.
