Gembrook last minute trip report

We had a night without the kidlet last night so we decided to go out for the night. Had never beed to Powelltown pub, on arrival we had second thoughts. The Powelly Pub is the general store, post office, fish and chip shop and pub all in one. Too far to drive anywhere else so we decided to stay and eat.

The food was bloody awesome. Not a lot of tables available but the food was worth the trip.

We elected to do a run through Gembrook on the way home so we cut across the hill to the top of Little Bunyip and headed down. There's a couple of very small bog holes but the track could be driven by a very standard vehicle. A left at the bottom took us up Andersons which again has been graded, that said add some water to the mix and the recent grading of Andersons would make for an interesting drive, some new and very deep spoon drains in the steep section will most likely mean it's a winch hill in the wet.

We then took a right at the top of Andersons to head back down Bunyip Ridge to the main road to head home. Bunyip Ridge has been graded as well, it does however appear that the road has been topped with dirt, it's starting to break up already with a few of the old holes starting to re appear.

Also worth noting, Black Snake Creek road is absolutely F@RKED!!!! Even driving the Patrol on 35's with some speed those pot holes are nearly big enough to be labelled as ponds, possibly even dam's. They's make for a slow drive in a Sierra.

Too add to your report Jim I went for a casual drive in Bunyip over christmas and came across a rolled Rolux :D on Black Snake Creek road. Hit a bad pot hole section too fast and basically bounced off the road slightly right were it narrows and drops of steeply. This is right near the motorcycle unloading area. Tow truck turned up while we were there and they called in a second tow truck as one was truck was going to get him out. Apparently same thing happened at this spot only a couple of weeks earlier.

Also Western track is basically gone. There are a couple of dams know along the track and it's all graded and the rocky section has disappeared. I assume it will remain well maintained.

I also winched someone back up who rolled on that corner a couple of years ago, I think it happens quite often.
