John - Seems like that part of the world can get all the help it can get at the moment.

There may very well be snow on the mountain this weekend:

http://www.theage.com.au/environment/we ... 1ity5.html

"Snow is forecast to fall on peaks down to 1200 metres by Wednesday night, and continue through Thursday and possibly Friday."

"The weather in Melbourne is expected to fine up for the weekend, with sunny conditions and a maximum of 19 degrees forecast for Sunday."

Promising.

Thats a FINE. Check up further at Jonnos post.

Between the servo and the pub. It's not far- you will see us.

Just a reminder to everyone camping on Friday night to bring a bag of firewood, it's hard to find on the mountain.

Another question, I am yet to invest in an air compressor.
I assume if we need to air up before we get back to a servo someone will be able to help me out...
If need be I can pinch my old mans compressor.

Gee I hope it's not too expensive... lol
All packed and ready to go.

Hopefully some of this rain might be falling as snow :)

Attn Saturday Climbers:
I propose we meet at a lazy 8am between the Pub and the Service Station (on Perkins St between Nash St and Grey St).

No point busting to get started early - with so many other cars up there we are never going to be the first ones on the climb.

I will be looking for these people only:
Jonno
Chen + 1
Rod + 1
Me + 1

Please be on time (i.e. ready to drive at 8am).

Jonno - if you track me down ahead of schedule, we will stick the rodeo + trailer outside my cabin at the Caravan Park.

Any issues? Please phone me - i dont expect to have nerd access in Jamieson.

Cheers

I didn't take any photos/video.

Really relaxing weekend. Once it was clear there wasn't going to be any meaningful snow, it just turned into a lazy camping weekend. Weather was close to perfect, we were able to drive the Barkly River Jeep Track which is quite challenging if you take silly lines, and it was warm enough to have a comfortable night around the camp fire. Must have been just around freezing with the wind chill - pretty warm considering.

All up a nice camping weekend with the added bonus of the Dan and Harley show for comic relief :D

With the warm daytime temperatures, had there been a lot of snow it would have been diabolically difficult. On the couple of patches of the snow left it was really hard to make progress with the snow being really soft and wet.

Some fog rolled in on Friday afternoon, but there was next to no wind so it wasn't a big deal. Sunday was still, no clouds. Really nice to see the views on a snow trip instead of being in the fog all the time.

Came back down the hill on Saturday afternoon - caught up in Greg and Fel's cabin for some beers and to review the GoPro footage of the weekend (hope some of the highlights make it up on here sometime *ahem* Dank...) and pottered off to the pub for dinner and a lemonade.

Nothing at all of interest happened at the pub.

;)
