Thanks again for your help getting home Chris, and Neo for doing the carby, seems like that was not the real issue

Make sure you get a genuine Suzuki pump. They are much dearer, but last ~20 years.
Aftermarket pumps don't seem to last/do the job at all.

Avoid ethanol in my opinion. Seals, tanks and lines have to be suitable.

I still think its worth taking the carby apart again and cleaning out the idle jet parts.
