Hi Wayne

Since I was not popular for taking off last weekend after my wife had oral surgery on the Thursday I was thinking of booking a few nights in Daylesford and doing some "wife" stuff on the Saturday and bringing her along on Sunday. First question is just to check that the trip is still on. Next was to ask how the tracks might be if it is wet - are they the same tracks as last time. My wife has not been offroad with me before and I don't want to put her off on the first trip. Any opinions.

Thanks

Mike

Took a punt and booked a cabin in Hepburn Springs for the weekend. So put me down for 2 people. Myself and wife Vera.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Fellas.
Hi Mike, Richard. Trip is still on.
Daylesford is a great place for a weekend stay. A must see is the botanical gardens on Wombat Hill.
They also run a tourist railway which is pretty good. Last time I went on the railway it was shortened because some of the bridges had been destroyed by the Muskvale bushfire. Hope they have been fixed.
The tracks include some we did last time and some new ones. About half and half. If it rains a lot I might have to change a few things, but all the cars that did the Wonnangatta trip will be fine for this one also. There are some very steep ups and downs but they are only short.
Its hard to say if it is scary or not. The new tracks are a little more difficult than last time.I think its fun, my wife hangs on tight.
Hope I haven't put you off.
Regards, Wayne.

Thanks Wayne. I am committed now so we will see how it goes. Getting her into the 4WD is the first step. Then getting her to sleep in a tent will come next.

By the way I don't think you did Mt Worth. That was scary.

Hi Fellas.
Hi Mike. The tracks we will do in the morning are easier. We will have lunch at Tipperary Springs, which is almost in Daylesford. If your wife isn't coping well, it won't be a problem to leave the trip then.
The more fun tracks are later.
Regards, Wayne.

Hi Wayne,

It's been pretty damp for these last few days - do you have any thoughts on how this might affect trip difficulty? My GV has A/Ts on it, but if this gets too muddy, it'll start to make me a bit nervous!

Thanks,

Hi Ed

If I can offer my opinion. What we can do is send other cars ahead to work out if it is slippery. Then we can make a decision not to proceed if it appears tricky. With my wife on board I am going to be in the same position. We don't want to put anyone in a position that they ate not comfortable with.

For those that don't know my last name. I was the new young bloke at the meeting the other night!
