It was pretty damn hot in the bush all weekend. I reckon it would have been like an endurance test for car and driver.

There was just the one vitara and it broke twice, on day two

Break #1 - LHS CV. Full lock, full compression, throttle against a rock. Michael swapped in a new CV and they were underway again.
Break #2 - heavy engine braking in low range (I believe a 5th to 3rd shift) was enough to break the driver's side diff retaining bolts and I think tear the pinion mount apart. I didn't get under the car but it looked like the pinion yoke hit the bell housing. In any case the diff wasn't in the right place any more and was a bit floppy. It didn't see day 3.

Turns out that driver's side mount needs all three bolts not just two ;)

I had a similar issue with my grand vitara, needless to say it has all its bolts and a proper drop bracket now.

Correction Steve, it made it through day one, and came unstuck halfway up Ellis on day two, then again a little further up Ellis. No day three for the vit.
