Hi Mike,

I've sent the permits off, just waiting on hearing back from them.
If I don't hear anything today, I'll call them on Monday.
We definitely have enough people to do a Saturday day trip, just need the permit to come through.

I've just received an email back from 4wd Vic, turns out that the weekend we picked has been super popular and has been booked out for months now.

The next available weekend is 19-21st August (one week later) how does that suit you guys?

They also mentioned that authorities would be up there,
A word of warning to be broadcast. The various authorities have indicated their intention to conduct intensive compliance checks on the road and that any infringements detected will be severely penalized.
When I asked him to clarify if it would be regarding the permits or the cars, he replied with this,
Indications are they’re going to go the whole box and dice show. Word is they’ll have the all singing, all dancing, high voltage rock and roll, 24 inch deluxe check me out situation running, with everybody involved, and that they will be in several locations around the area to catch people on the side tracks. If you’re good, then they’ll just tell you to travel safely and have a good trip.
Make of this what you each will, but I have a feeling this may affect some people's car choices.

Hi Leigh

My car is fully roadworthy and compliant with all regulations. Unfortunately I can't do the weekend of 19 to 21 August. That is my wife's birthday and I know I won't get a leave pass for that weekend.

This is also the weekend of my partners birthday. Got Tickets to Matilda..

And my car is being built with 33s specifically for this trip...

ARGH. Now I dont know what to do.

Guess I am not going now. Or maybe I can borrow some RW Tires (or keep my 235s for a while) if we run a trip at a later date.

-we are a possible for the 19 - 21st. Hannah's school has an open day. We will need to ask to get out of that; will find out during week if thats ok or not.

-26 - 28 is a maybe; already had plans to go away - will see if the others in that group can move the date if others here show interest for that date

-Anything after that and its getting too late for snow??

-If its all not going to work - we are still up for a camping weekend on the 13th - 14th !!

You could, via Licola, head up Tamboritha Road to Lost Plain (just under 1500m) or Doolans Plain off Moroka Rd. No permits needed and there's cabin accommodation available at Licola (but no pub).
