looks like I might not make it after diagnosing and fixing my wiring issue with my compressor then testing in a gravel car park to see if everything locked up.
it did, then it stayed locked and wouldn't come out, then it went BANG and now it sounds bad and that's that.

.....nooootttt!
fixed now.
thanks Steve

hopefully if I have uploaded this right you can see that the tab is bent down in the red circle, which means when I was trying to install this in, it would hit the hub housing so I had to turn it about 10 degrees or so otherwise the bolts didn't line up.
the weird thing is I beleive this came like this from stock, I had to straighten out those tabs and then bend them down in the green circle slot in order to get the bolts lined up when the hub was totally in the "free" position.

I can 100% confirm it didn't come in that spot stock. You shouldn't have needed to bend anything though, just pulled it off the driver and slid it around. Imagine holding the driver on the doormat, pulling the spring retainer upwards and sliding it around one tooth, that would leave the two straight tabs aligned with two teeth on the driver and the bent tab in between the two teeth, where it should be to line up with the hub body.
You can see the correct alignment here:
(This is a toyota hub, but they're the same)
You can "slip" the spring around a little to get the teeth to line up properly - this photo is a bit of a guide.
There's some scope to twist the spring around in the driver.
Steve.

Everything I do to my car could be considered track-side repairs as I don't have a workshop and all my tools I keep in my car anyway.

Yeah nice work on that previous post Steve. good reminder for all of us! It's often the simple things we dont' think of that cause the biggest headaches....think back to my loose negative battery terminal and the 3-4 hours it took to get my car out of that situation on walkers.

Hey Jon, thanks mate! It's actually for Rob my mate who is a mad suzi nut and has been for many years. He's been my navvy on the tour in the past but I think i'll upgrade to a better looking navvy

. He's an olympic class swim coach so from the coaching perspective he's kills me in that respect! He also knows how to steer so he'd be an excellent Navvy if you are willing! I'm sure he'll pitch in for fuel etc as well. I'll tell him to post here so you guys can get acquainted
