A stock JK Rubicon is nothing like a stock Suzuki. :D
Twin Lockers, 32" tyres (All terains) etc.

The only thing that could get ripped off is the giant sized front bumper.

I can not wait for the ARB stuff to be fitted.

I may wait until it has a few Km's on it until I really give it a hard time off road.
At this stage it has done a total of 172Km's

Bummer.

I have been advised to take it easy until its first service.
SO I may not be able to attend this trip.

I can't see why you couldn't "take it easy" whilst driving offroad. I'm pretty sure the oil in the motor doesn't know whether it's doing 3000rpm on or off road - thta's th eonly thing that gets changed at the first service.

Steve.

By who ?

If the engines of poor enough construction to require "cotton wool" running in, then my opinion of Jeeps drops to just about zero - and frankly its just not credible advice.

Whilst its stupid to thrash a new engine.... current practice on running in is to operate the engine over a range of RPM and load conditions. Its more about allowing components to fully "bed in" and to do this variety is the key.

The days of super cautious running in went out ages ago, when the internals literally needed to grind themselves to size, special running in oil etc etc - with modern production equipment engine component fit is in a completely different league.

I'm certainly not advocating abuse of a new engine - but as I see it you likely to do more harm than good.
We do lots of lots of engine "run ins" - variety in load is the key to effective run in

It was one the Jeep Service centres that suggested to take it easy for the first 1000k.
You have me thinking in now..

I will now speak to other non jeep dealer service tomorrow.
There are a couple in Melbourne that I know of.

1. USA4X4
2. Poly4X4

Well. I think that says it all.
Sounds like the dealers do not know what they are talking about.
