In any case snorkel is being fitted next, just waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

Re: 4-Dec-2011 - Toolangi - Medium
When I had my 99 GV.
The stock rear diff crapped itself.
This gave me the excuse to change the Diff Ratio & use a second hand Vitara diff Front & rear.
It also gave me an excuse to install an ARB Air locker.
This option turned out far cheaper that using the stock GV Diff.
I got Matt from Total Traction to do the job.
I think the new Diff ratios were 4.6:1. This also corrected the speedo as I had the larger tyres.
It was the best thing I ever did..

Thanks Andrew, any idea roughly how much all up that cost you?
Did you have to source the Vitara diffs yourself or did Matt do the whole thing for you?

No CJ found them. From memory it was about $3500.00 for the complete fit install etc.Brad.Jones wrote:Thanks Andrew, any idea roughly how much all up that cost you?

Also got a Vitara manual hubs fitted (CJ also was able to source them)
Not a cheap exercise but it was cheaper that one stock Diff centre etc.

Re: 4-Dec-2011 - Toolangi - Medium
Wondering if I would be welcome on this trip? I think my rig would be capable of it (see below for mods) but I am very new to it, and a fairly inexperienced 4WDer. However, I don't see too many "easy" rated trips to start on. Don't mind if you say no, I can handle rejection
Mods that affect 4wd ability are:
- ARB Air lockers front and rear
- Warn 6000 pound winch (got to get it working...!)
- 31" Muddies
- Calmini low ratio transfer gears
- Calmini rock sliders
- Six inch uplift
- Calmini & Toughdog 3" suspension lift
- Snake racing 3" body lift
- Safari Snorkel
I live 200m from the border of Toolangi State Forest, past Glenburn. So possibly wouldn't have to go far...! Not sure if I could get away from meeting at Yarra Glen or not, and just meet at the turnoff from the highway.

Hi Oscar- yep, your x90 should be good to go for this trip, and I would think it should be a good trip to test out what it can do on some fun tracks with little chance of damaging anything (axles remain an exception to this).
Happy to arrange a different meeting point with you also if you like.

Sounds good. I just need to make sure I get the gear listed by christover in another post before the date. Do I need to provide my own means of reinflating tyres? I obviously have a compressor, but no hose or tyre inflator at the moment. I haven't even got a tyre pressure gauge - do I need one before this trip?
A different meeting place for me would be good - means I don't have to go in and back out.

I have air. We wont have any issues reinflating tyres.
