Only been here 46 years, many of which I thought I was already an Aussie.
Came over from Pommy Land in 1963, on my folks entry permit (ID In lieu of passport)
I turned 5 on the boat.
And now I know I am not an Aussie, I figured it was time to do it.
Never been out of the country in all those years.
Never paid tax in any other country.
And now I live on an Aussie pension.
All this and much more has inspired the choice.
Carp load of paperwork, think I've killed at least one tree
All posted off today, now we wait for the gears of government to grind slowly away.
May not have to do test, but better study up in case, cos I bet I dunno an awful lot that I should

Re: I becoming an Aussie (I hope)
My Visa card now shows a payment to Immigration Australia,
so at least we know they got the paper work.
One small step forward.
Hurry up and wait

Re: I becoming an Aussie (I hope)
Next step, mail arrived, got an interview in the city in 3 weeks time.
I'll have to get out of bed early,
and hope my Myki Pass arrives,
and works by then.

Re: I becoming an Aussie (I hope)
All went well with my Aussie Citizenship Interview today.
Now we just wait for notification in about a month.
They need to check my paper work, and my character.
But I won't be an Aussie till next citizenship ceremony, which could be 6 months away.
They didn't require me to sit the test.
So why did I study

Finaly, but took a lot of paper work, emails and phone calls, because someone,
with the same name as mine, was a bad boy.
Now to wait for a ceremony.
