Forecast for the area is for light showers Sat, Sun and Monday, which we know from previous experiences
is a good thing as far as driving is concerned
Damps the dust down and can make things remarkably slippery in a very short time.
As long as it doesn't rain first thing in the morning or around dinner that's cool
So I'd toss in the wet weather gear - just to be certain, bring it and you wont need it don't and you will........

Hope we don't have to pack up wet like last time on the Border Track trip.

I always just chuck it all in, willy nilly, then dry it all and pack it properly at home.zookstir wrote:Hope we don't have to pack up wet like last time on the Border Track trip.

Every bit as good as previous trips - thanks Paul.
The Saturday night roast was excellent - congrats to the cooks ( Paul and Joey ). When I looked at the quantity I wondered where it would all go - silly me....... followed up by some "interesting" technical discussion.
Six cars and a trailer, 3 luxes, 2 Sierra's and Mouse.
Started out with Frog towing Tadpole, moved to Paul towing Tadpole, ended up Joey towing Frog and Paul towing Tadpole. Chris L is now convinced his TotalCare money was well spent.
Its not a situation to be underestimated - desert driving is hard on cars, those that go on their own take a hell of a risk IMO.
Did just over 1000ks off road without the bitumen roads.

Thank God for Total Care, and thank God for the Zook Club.
I appreciate the help to get back to town, and into mobile coverage.
At least nothing I worked on let me down.
We still had great time, despite the blown head gasket issues.
(There is water in the oil now)
Claire enjoyed the trip, wasn't easy for her, she did well under pressure.
Now back under the zook bonnet.

Re: Paul Mac's Wacky Desert Races III - Melb Cup Weekend
Yes it was a great desert trip with lots of loose sand driving. Thanks Paul for doing the organising again and also for the delicious roast. On our Sunday night camp at Ross's Spring, mother nature put on a great light and sound show. Fortunately we only got a couple of spots of rain, but next morning several K's down the track we saw evidence of a fair deluge.
On one remote track, we passed a lone couple in a hire 4WD going in the opposite direction. Makes you wonder!
Frog getting sick.
Frog more sick.
Frog getting a lift home.
Ross dining in style.
The name says it all.
Paul getting some air on big dune at Snowdrift (Monday night campsite)

Looks like a great trip.
What happened to Frog ?
It looks like frog being put on to a tray truck.
