trip report
It was an awesome weekend of relaxing and adventuring
plenty of mud and snow to be found!
Day 1: was a travel day out to the campsite and consisted of some wheeling up the hard part of old willaiamson spur track and down flats track down to camp where we built a warm and toasty fire and relaxed.
Day 2: we had an early start and headed towards the morning star water wheel from the O'Tooles camping ground.
I would highly recommend this walk if you're in the area it's a very interesting and informational walk, it includes a ghost town, as well as old housing sites and lots of old mining equipment.
Once we were finished with the walk we stopped for lunch and then we moved on to some wheeling, we headed up middle star track which was very slick clay and provided some entertainment. This is where it got exciting, it unexpectedly started snowing at the top of the hill, after a small play in the snow we headed down white star track to cap the day off.
Day 3: A early start!! We woke to a loud explosion Dean was cooking some breakfast on his gas-mate stove and the canister exploded creating a large explosion leaving a big dent in his rear tailgate.
Once we were all awake we started to head towards mount Selma to see how much it snowed the night before.
We got ourselves lost playing in the snow on the way but we eventually got on track and headed down s16 track to the river for some lunch at a lovely little spot. from there we headed up Mt Selma track into some very heavy fresh powder, we played on some of the hard tracks on the summit and headed home.
