fast idle when cold
have xl7 2001 with 2.7 .when first started seems to be running at excessivley high revs 1500/1800 for about 2/3 minutes .anybody know what the prob may be .Colin.

It's unlikely to be a problem - it's just the equivalent of the choke - Most cars do it to a greater or lesser extent - even my diesel Defender.
My guess it's extra noticeable in the XL-7 because the engine fan is quite noisy and will also run when the engine is stone cold, so you'll get a roar. This isn't the case with most cars anymore.
