Those in the know when did the 1.6L motors start to come out in EFI??
I presume this thing would be fuel injected? (If yes - hands off - its mine for $2000 )

Is it not easier to put a Suzuki baleno motor in. I have a
1.6 vitara and am about to fit a sc14 supercharger to it.

I'm not really sure what you are suggesting Benny?
Baleno's came with both G16 motors and J18 motors. The G16 motors from a Baleno are harder to fit to a sierra for a few varied reasons:
No water neck on the inlet manifold for a top radiator hose requiring custom water piping,
Distributor poking out the back of the block, or crank angle sensor in the sump.
However, they don't run an AFM (good) and the coil pack versions are very neat.
They are a good conversion, but DEFINITELY not easier to fit than a Vitara G16B. I've done both.
The Baleno J18 would be a massive PITA and pointless in my opinion.
The J20 is possible, but a very involved conversion. There's a couple of problems - the biggest is the motor is too long to run an engine driven fan (or a puller fan) so the cooling system is very compromised in my opinion. I wouldn't bother with a J motor. If you needed more power than a G16B could offer, I'd run a non-suzuki motor as the conversion would be no less difficult but more powerful, cheaper motors are easy to come by.

PS good luck with the blown G16. How are you dealing with fuelling/timing and compression ratio?

Benny could believe Brad wants to fit a 1.6 motor to a Vitara,
as his GV is on his profile?
Brad needs to buy a whole Vit to get all the bits needed to fit to a Sierra.

It's not necessary to buy a whole vitara, although that is a neat way of doing it. It does leave you everything except the motor, gearbox, engine loom and fuel tank to get rid of after you've done the conversion.

Yeah want to buy the complete car so then I can test drive it and make sure the engine and gearbox are in good condition.
And as you say it make for a relatively easy swap. I wont have to worry about sourcing the ecu etc. plus I am thinking that the power steering will also move over.

I'll keep it in mind. After doing a little more research I won't do the J20A conversion though.
