Panhard Rods????

Just potting things together for the engineer and I’m having trouble finding the stock lengths (hole to hole) for the front and rear Panhard rod on Jimny or sj80. :?

Kinda.

Longer is better in the rear.

In the front you want the panhard to be as close as possible to the length and angle of the drag link to minimise bump steer.

Ill have to measure and compare it to the rod length.

I'm also told the panhand rod has to be centered between the cassie and the diff? Or equal from center of both?

Also I supose hight (suspension) would have a hand in the mix to?

When you say centred, do you mean both mounts the same distance in from (say) the edge of the tyres? If so, yes, you'd want that. In relation to the mount locations, now you are getting into complex territory. You're asking about roll centre.

You'll note there are some guidelines here, but no obvious concrete answer.

Generally, roll centre should apparently be higher in the rear than the front, and the front is pretty much set by the steering drag link angle.

However, if you drop the drag link with a drop pitman arm, you can lower the panhard mount and therefore lower the front roll centre.

Interestingly, some of the XRCC/rock racing cars in the US seem to run very, very high roll centres.
