Thanks for that Ross. Interesting stuff.
I've often wondered, does the plain old 1.3 zook engine warrant the price of a synthetic oil, or will a good mineral suffice as long as it's changed regularly???

Now the oil actually stays in the engine long enough to get dirty ?

I think it's like anything Daryl, you get what you pay for, and the performance of a synthetic oil IS superior to that of a mineral. But I think that for my usage and roughly $20 against $60 for 5L, I will stick with what I've been doing, ie. using a mineral oil with more frequent changes (3000Km) to maintain a fairly clean oil.

And don't use cheap oil filters ( see prior thread ).
