Hi Suzuki community , im about to buy a new battery for my little Sierra.
Im going to take Gwagensteve's advice and buy an OPTIMA , but which one ?
It's confusing with all the coice , the Battery salesman is suggesting a RED 25 ,
But i think the Zook community use the D51's .

Any thoughts anyone?

Richard

I recommend a yellow top
I've got one here I bought in 2004, still going strong
the other on I got in 2012 it too is going strong

they are great for holding charge, and can take/hold a charge even when drained fully
there is the added benefit that you can do a full line pull on your winch and still start the car, thats what originality sold then to me.

I assume the red 25 is the 75/25, which is a 44Ah/730CCA starting battery

A Yellow top D34 is 55Ah/765CCA, is the same width and height, but is slightly longer. They fit well in a stock sierra location with an inconsequential little bracket unscrewed (from memory) I wouldn't choose the 75/25 in place of a D34 - the D34 fits so well.

While the yellow top gives up CCA in comparison to the red top in the same size, it's not a significant issue, and the ability for the battery to recover better from a deep discharge is worthwhile. Obviously the D34 has more CCA and capacity than the 75/25 in any case.

Interestingly, My D34 yellow top has had a very rough time, (i.e it sat with the vents underwater for a long time, it's been flattened a few times etc) and I thought it had gone soft- It's pretty old - probably 13 years or so. Anyway, my FG daily driver takes the same size battery and the (relatively new) battery in it had given up, so I threw the yellow top in it to tide me over. It has so much more punch than the original battery in it it's crazy. Seems I needn't have worried about the optima, it's fine.

Yellow Top Optima D34 is in and fits perfectly.
I can’t believe how well it cranks over now .
Mind you the battery I removed looked like lawn mower battery.
Thanks Steve .

There is also an exide version that looks like an optima it's a spiral wound glass one and because Bunnings is an agent for exide now they can order it in on a special order and it's not that expensive.
I know you have already gone and ordered it but just for anyone in the future
