Frog is now packing 100amps
Mainly changed due to screaming alt bearings, and tired of reco ing and/or replacing.
EF falcon alt has been fitted, more easy to find, and in better nick than most zook 2nd hand stuff.
So I can easily fit another next time I accidently take Frog swimming in the ooze.
I didn't need to change the pulley, as I'm already multi v belted.
They lined up nicely, just got an extra 3 unused v's.
In my case, redrilling holes wasn't required, maybe cos its a swift donk alt bracket? But I did need to drill out the captive nut. This could be cut off tho.
I used the falcon 1 bolt straight thru, for ease of future removeability.
Only needed a small bit of grinding on top mount, a lot less than expected, but this could be cos of swift adjuster mount thingy? Slider hole needed reaming a tad, as bolts larger.
I had a new alternator wire made up by auto elec, suitable for 100 amps, going straight to battery, as my wiring is old and suspect. This also included a fuseable link, which has been missing from frog for a very long time
Thought that be better than old wires from wreckers.
Heres hoping its a long lasting piece of equipment.
And hopefully lights won't dim in time with the indicators now
NB. A slightly longer fan belt may have been wise, as fitting belt was quite hard......but I'm not wise, I ground off a sticking out bit on alternators case, and problem was solved. Now my spare belts are still useable.
Thanks to all for advice and support.

Yep, can feel the power loss, poor little donkmightymouse wrote:There goes another 5kW.....
Its heavier, tho, so it should increase my low down torque, or talk at least, like having a heavier flywheel

And if you turn on all your electrical stuff, then you will have a "bit" more engine braking......

good point, better than the lack of compression to do the job.mightymouse wrote:And if you turn on all your electrical stuff, then you will have a "bit" more engine braking......

Re: Bigger alternator fitted.
I've maybe gained a bit actually, as its not fighting stuffed bearings and a mud pack.
