Ideas for thick wall square tubing

Post by BZOOK »

So I have three 2m lengths of 5mm wall 65X65mm wide square section. I'm wondering what projects I could use it for. Seems too heavy duty for a work bench, feels like it should be used to make some sort of tool or jig. Any great ideas? Brackets?

Make a bench and put 10mm plate on top of it. Once you have a bench that heavy and flat it changes everything. you can smash and bash and weld to it and whatever and it doesn't move.

My "heavy" bench has 75x75x3mm legs/frame and a 10mm top. It's fantastic.

I have a very sturdy bench but it only has 2mm sheet on top. I'd love a 10mm top at some stage.

65x656x5 is the same material as tow hitch sleeves - i.e. it neatly sleeves 50x50 box.

I bought a metre of it so I could use trailer hitch pins to attach accessories to my trailer - i.e. spare tyre holders and hand winches.

6 metres - that's gotta be close to 60 hitch attachments!

(geez it is heavy though)

And I think 60 hitch attachments on a trailer would look ugly too Greg!!🤣
I've see those clever peeps who add something similar to the underside of a work bench then add large equipment to the 50x50 for easy attachment and removal.
