Hi Thanh,

Sorry mate - I'm not sure what sort of vehicle Coco is and what the specs are on it.

Please fill us in.

Thanks,
Greg

Just a reminder of the minimum vehicle requirements for Adventure Tour:

For Sierras: tyres that measure 32", at least one locker (although two lockers are very strongly recommended) rollover protection is mandatory for soft top cars and strongly recommended for hardtop cars. For reference, 34" tyres are now the norm and its been some time since a Sierra came on Tour with one locker.

For larger cars: tyres that measure 35", twin lockers and a winch are mandatory. It's not a trip that's very well suited to large cars- it's quite destructive. (I did Adventure Tour in my Gwagen for many years. The last big car on Tour was a V8 jeep on portal axles and 40" tyres.

Along with this equipment, a good understanding of your vehicle mechanically, appropriate knowledge and tools to perform trackside repair, and a well prepared car are required.

This is a very hard trip on equipment and it will find the weak points in your car and preparation.

I don't want to put anyone off, just aligning expectations.

I think you mean: rollover protection is mandatory for soft top cars.

I wouldn't stress about Thanh. He has a twin locked 80 on measured 34" Jungle Trekkers ( which measure 35") and he seems to know what he's doing going off the Tazz trip.
Have a chat with him at the next meeting Steve.

No No, it wasn't specifically intended at anyone - and no offence intended to Thanh- there's lots of users on here now who aren't frequent meeting attenders and as this thread didn't contain the prerequisites, so I thought I'd mention them.

Additionally, each year we seem to find a new collective chink in our tour armour that moulds what a successful AT setup would be. Having been one of the few people to bring a "big" car along to tour (along with Luke, both of us any years ago) I don't think I'd do it now.
