Sump Bolts

Post by Phantomzook »

With yet another oil leak (vitara) I have found the rear two drivers side sump bolts the one really close to the inspection plate spin freely. They appear to be in good condition which I suppose means the they are striped in the block.
Is there a trick of the trade quick fix for this?

There is thread repair bits available, tho I know not from where.
These can be useful if rethreading fails.

I'm sure there'd be a more simpler/cheaper solution?

It is possible the screws have busted off leaving half still in the sump, but we hope not.

Could be best to wait fer a more technical bloke than me to come along.

In such a low stress area, I would try thread tape round the screws, it may be enuff to get them to bite.
