Vit PS Box overhaul

Post by jonfromhamilton »

I have a leak in my power steering box and I know it will be the 10 Bar oil seal in there but not being able to pull it out right now I'm thinking of just getting an overhaul kid and doing the whole thing.
Then I can bead blast the power steering box and re-paint it so it looks over the top and all that too.
I found a couple one is 170 or so and one is 110 and one is from LROR

$30 USD

Pull the box and go through the preload/adjustment procedure and see if it comes up to spec. If it doesn't, it's not worth spending anything on it as those seal kits don't address any wear items. (same as the sierra box)

Do you think it might be a loose bearing org ousting problem pushing the spline off angle rather than a damaged seal?

Yes, it’s quite likely.
