Sierra Fuel odour/vapours

Post by richplezo »

My Sierra sometimes produces a fuel smell , I cant see an obvious leak . Perhaps it's to do with the charcoal canister .
Im new to owning a high top , i previously had a ute which didn't have this issue.
Q - Have any of you Suzuki folk encountered this?
- Is it common ?
Is it easily fixed ?

POST SCRIPT

I found the wee plastic breather bottle in the rear . It's behind a panel held in by 3 screws .
Took it out , Blew air into it , YES , it has a split in the seam .
This is where i think the odour is coming from.

Hip hip hoorah.

I can go back to smelling like a rose .

Good news Richard and a cheap easy fix also
Question Do you still have the Ute ?
Or has it moved on to greener pastures

Hi Damo , yes I still have it. It’s safely hibernating in a shed.
I still haven’t decided what to do with it.

The plastic vapour bottles are available as they were used on Maruti's up until recently. Alternatively, you could use one from a Vitara. There's nothing special about them.

or just JB weld the seam up and call it good.
