Hi Fellas.
Has anyone experienced a broken timing belt in a G13a. engine?
What is the likelihood of valve damage?
I have heard the terms "interference and non interference engines".
Hoping a G13a is non interference.

Re: Broken Timing Belt.
The G series engine is a non interference design. There will be zero damage to anything.
Just retime the motor and replace the belt.
It’s a good opportunity to replace the water pump while you’re in there.

Re: Broken Timing Belt.
Hi Fellas.
Thanks Steve.
I replaced the water pump and timing belt last January.
When I took off the old water pump, I must have loosened one of the bolts on the oil pump casing. Mistaking it for a water pump bolt.
It has then over time worked its way out and got caught up in the timing belt and shredded it.
Luckily it happened about 500meters from my house, could have been miles away.
Regards. Wayne.
