Re: Woohoo! I finally bought a plasma cutter!
"There's a fair knack to using it"........ One that I dont have unfortunately, on some cuts I get it right first time with an almost sawn edge finish and then on others its a mess. it seems that the start is critical ( at least for me ) get that right and its cool. Surface finish also seem...

They are a good bit of gear - and you don't have the gas bottle useage of the traditional oxy torch.
I've been pondering a purchase for some time but just havn't got around to it as usual.
And it good to be able to cut alloy/ stainless etc etc.

Re: Use of LED Indicator lamps in Vehicles
Just a small postscript.....
Had a look at two "LED" flasher cans today.
One had "For motorcycle use only" on the packaging and the other had "Motorcycle Flasher Relay" printed ( small print ) on the case. Seems the manufacturers are covering their rear ends

Re: Vehicle reliability
As all have stated, its a matter of real inconvienience for you and the other people on the trip. Given the nature of our obsession, things happen on the tracks and I believe the club has a remarkable record of trackside repairs - I can't recall a vehicle being left during my time in the club. Howev...

Re: Use of LED Indicator lamps in Vehicles
Haven't had the time to read these but this is what i was quoted. "AS 2809.1 & Adr 13, Clause 6.5.* & 9 Tell-tale Operating tell-tale mandatory for front and rear direction-indicator lamps. It may be visual or auditory or both. If it is visual it shall be a flashing light which, at leas...

Re: Use of LED Indicator lamps in Vehicles
Its an option cj! - lamp fail indication is current dependant and that is entirely load dependant and varies with the mixture and size of LEDs / incandescent lamps fitted. Adjustment to actual load is the real solution if you want it done correctly -and as long as thats possible then its cool. Given...

Use of LED Indicator lamps in Vehicles
Just a little background info on the substitution of LED lamps for indicators in vehicles - have had lots of questions on this at work so its a current topic. In the "old days" the flasher cans fitted to cars was an electromechanical unit that used the lamp current to repeatedly heat and c...

Re: HID lights
I kneel before the font of all knowledge  I'm not certain how to take that cj!....... that's the risk of asking questions - you may get a detailed answer, backed by informaton and then of course you get opinons, rumors, urban legends and recomendations based on "I bought" so it m...

Re: HID lights
Important note..... HID's DO NOT like frequent starts. This makes them unsuitable for applications where they are turned on and off frequently - and thats high beam. They include a forced restart mechanism but the electrical stress placed on the lamp is significant so should be avoided for "nor...
